My husband and I owned a medical software company in Canada for eighteen years after which we retired to our cottage on Lac du Bonnet in Manitoba. We now spend the lovely summers there but when the cold snows arrive we head for our home in North Fort Myers, Florida.
In 2009, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and during the long winter of chemo and radiation my focus changed without any conscious realization of it happening. That winter I began to explore my creative side making a series of fun and colorful hats to wear while I was bald.
After that experience, joining the ranks of cancer survivors, I wanted to create beautiful accessories for women. Moving through a series of stages, I am now fascinated with both wool felting and silk fusion. My Starry Starry Night silk fusion clutch purse won 1st place in the fibre category of the 2013 Eastman Judged Art Exhibition and my Crimson Garden nuno felted scarf placed second in the People’s Choice balloting at the ArtWave Touch of Red exhibit in August 2014 in Lac du Bonnet.
My work is available in the Pinawa Art Gallery in the Lewis Business Centre at 24 Aberdeen Avenue in Pinawa.
