Altaire’s practice centers on textiles and clothing as sites of labor, power, and access. He looks closely at domestic and textile labor, especially feminized and informal work and how this shapes ideas of home, safety, and agency. Rather than treating the home as inherently safe, his work examines it as a space that can also be violent, unstable, or exclusionary. A key idea in his practice is clothing as a kind of “second home,” and how access to clothing and comfort is uneven, particularly for fat, trans, disabled, and poor people.
