Artistic Statement

From a very early age I was drawing animals and people….and doodling all over my notebooks. It never occurred to me to pursue anything other than an art related career. I was fortunate that my parents didn’t stifle my artistic passion and that I was able to attend the University of Manitoba Faculty of Fine Arts after completion of high school. Upon graduation I began teaching ( Art and English). Although this was  all consuming in the early years it gave me the opportunity to share my love of art with students. There were also professional art education groups that I joined and participated in various capacities.

Currently ( in retirement), I continue to be associated with various creative individuals and groups including Pinawa Art 211, WRAC ( featured artist December 2015), Gwen Fox and Wayne Arthur Galleries, The Prairie Edge Rug Hookers and the G.A.W.M.Y.S. (Good Art Won’t Match Your Sofa) artists.

My work doesn’t adhere to any particular genre. Subjects vary as well….from the world of nature to global politics to facets of the human condition….I like to be surprised by the outcome and hope that viewers are as well.
