“You centre the clay, and the clay centers you”. (Robin Leach)
I started my pottery journey around 2012 with a class in Winnipeg at the local community Centre. One class and I was hooked! Since then, I have had the privilege of taking pottery classes taught by a number of very talented potters in Winnipeg at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Stoneware Gallery, and the Sounding Stone. In 2018 I set up a pottery studio at my home in Pinawa. I continue to learn through practice, experimentation, and community. I fire in an electric kiln to cone 5 or 6.
I have found my zen in clay. My work is inspired by the colours and shapes found in the local landscape— water and plants influence my form and glaze choices. I aim to make functional pottery that evokes feelings of calm, peace, and comfort when held and used.
