Joanna Babiak, known artistically as Glass Sass, is a talented stained glass artist based in the RM of Lac du Bonnet, MB.

Since embarking on her artistic journey in 2022 after a transformative day class at Pinawa Bay Stained Glass, Joanna has become captivated by the intricate world of stained glass art. Specializing in the Tiffany style, she employs the copper foil and solder method to create stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces.

What Joanna loves most about stained glass is its inherent uniqueness; no two projects are ever the same, thanks to an extensive array of colors, textures, and patterns available in the glass. Her work often features themes inspired by nature, with subjects ranging from insects and animals to vibrant flowers.

In addition to stained glass, Joanna enjoys exploring the fusion of different mediums, including wood and metal, to enhance her artistic expression. Notable projects include the transformation of an old guitar into a striking art piece with a glass flower panel, backlit with LED lights, and a creative homage to nature featuring a set of monarch wings sandwiched between clear glass, resulting in a breathtaking 3D butterfly.
